The DEIS action plan provides for a standardised system for identifying levels of disadvantage and a new integrated School Support Programme (SSP).

A team of DEIS advisors from within the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) provide support for Urban Band 1 and Urban Band 2 primary DEIS schools in the area of literacy and numeracy.

The Junior Certificate Schools Programme (JCSP) assists young people in making the Junior Certificate more accessible for those who may leave school without formal qualifications.

The National Behavioural Support Service (NBSS)provides support and expertise to post-primary schools experiencing difficulty coping with persistent and serious student disruption.
