15 May, 2017 - Minister officially opening Scoil Aoife Community National School

Over €5 Million Invested in State of the Art Facility

The Minister for Education and Skills, Mr Richard Bruton TD, officially opened the new school building for Scoil Aoife Community National School.

The school was established in September 2014 in temporary accommodation under the auspices of Dublin & Dun Laoghaire ETB operating on a multi-denominational, co-educational basis.

This new school building, opening today, for Scoil Aoife CNS was delivered under the Department’s “Rapid” Design & Build Programme in 2016.

The modern, state of the art, facilities include 16 Classrooms, a General Purpose room, Special Needs Unit and ancillary accommodation.

Minister Bruton said:

“I was delighted to visit Scoil Aoife Community National School in Citywest today to open their new school. Through the Action Plan for Education, which aims to make the Irish education and training service the best in Europe, we are investing hundreds of millions to provide thousands of new school places across the country. Students in Citywest will now greatly benefit from these new state of the art facilities.”

Notes to Editor:

The contract was awarded to Western Building Systems following competitive tender and the contract amount for the project was over €5.48 million including VAT.

Handover to the ETB/School Authorities took place in August 2016.
