Evaluation of Provision for Pupils with Special Educational Needs

Evaluation of Provision for Pupils with Special Educational Needs is a focused evaluation of provision for pupils with special educational needs in primary schools. During these evaluations inspectors report on two main questions:

1. How good are the learning outcomes of pupils with special educational needs?
2. Is the school using the resources it receives for pupils with special educational needs to improve outcomes for pupils with special educational needs?

During the evaluation inspectors visit both mainstream and support classes, engage with pupils, review their work, files, individual plans and assessment data and administer parent questionnaires. The school receives an opportunity to report on its provision for pupils with special educational needs during these evaluations through completing a School Information and Self-Reporting Form and through meetings with the inspector(s). We provide oral feedback at the end of these inspections and the school received a written report.
